Wow, I guess we non-super models really can’t win, lol! I guess I have no choice but to continue rocking my awesomeness! I have been propositioned by a few Korean men so clearly there are shifts in what’s considered attractive happening, but it’ll probably be a while before there’s any real change in what’s considered acceptable or attractive overall here.

On a different note, I got teased during my travels in SE Asia for having a larger than Asian nose. It’s good times all around in that part of the world when you’re anything less than Cindy Crawford. Keep rocking on Isabel, you’re a star.

I think the key is that we can’t teach kids anything we haven’t learned ourselves. And as a generation, overall, we haven’t actually learned that worth comes in all shapes and sizes. We’re still seriously stupid on that front. I hope that as some of us buck the trend (and have some babies!) we’ll be able to shift the thinking in the coming generation.

I think the hyper body consciousness here is probably worse than in North America. Here, even the men are just as fashion conscious as the women so they tend to be just as concerned about their weight. The present obsession with weight rather than health in our generation is just off the charts. Something has to change soon.

Thanks for the comment. I hope that my actions do shed some light on how unacceptable it is for the kids to treat each other this way. If even one kid catches on or one kid feels protected, then it’s something.

This makes me sad. I know exactly how it feels to be on the receiving end of shame with respect to weight issues. Kids can be cruel, but how can we get through to them that true worth comes in all shapes and sizes, and has nothing to do with how you look? This is obviously a human being problem!
